WeedUpdate (Weed Update) was created to keep people updated about Cannabis and CBD legalization news in the United States.

The benefits of legalized cannabis far outweigh the detriments in many aspects. Medicinally, marijuana has been known to help countless people diagnosed with a terminal disease. Recreationally, legalized weed would help eliminate the black market and funnel sales to states and counties, instead of criminal drug cartels. Finally, legal weed will help alleviate the pains of a slow economy that we are all suffering under.

A new vibrant market that is creating jobs and generating revenues for individuals and governments is a win-win for everyone –except the ones benefitting from the failed drug war. Those would include the private prison industrial complex, big pharma, alcoholic beverage manufacturers, and the drug cartels.

The Miracle Plant

Cannabis is a miracle plant. Legalized weed and the legal cultivation of hemp can also contribute to the environment. Hemp paper is strong, durable and just as good as regular paper —except we don’t need to cut down trees. Hemp fiber used to make clothes is stronger and more sustainable than cotton. Hemp can also make bi0diesel, which can be used in any unmodified diesel engine. Hemp can even give us biodegradable and recyclable plastics. Therefore, legal weed and hemp are important to our national security.

So, is there any downside to legalizing marijuana? With all the mentioned benefits above, it is clear why the majority of Americans support the legalization of marijuana. So, we here at WeedUpdate (Weed Update) want to continue the effort of legalizing cannabis throughout the United States. We support the efforts to help revive the economy and rid it of its criminal elements. Only through regulation and taxation can we improve our infrastructure and schools, because putting people to work to produce taxable revenue is a much better option than borrowing through municipal bonds and other instruments which only puts us all further into debt.
